Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino 2008

Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyThe '08 vintage at Banfi, rated four-star for Brunello di Montalcino, has created a modern wine for the modern consumer. It's friendly, approachable and crying out for food. It could further benefit from a year or two ageing in bottle to soften up but it is certainly enjoyable now with food. Fermentation in hybrid stainless steel/wood tanks adds characteristic wood savouriness while preserving a lot of fresh fruit. Spiced strawberry, plums, licorice and bright, tart cranberry liveliness lead to a slightly dry/astringent, dusty herbal finish.Tasted: 11 December 2014Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
