Emiliana Coyam 2007
Valle del Colchagua, Valle del Rapel, Region del Valle Central, ChileCoyam takes a big step up and embraces the terrific 2007 vintage. The aromatics and nose are the best yet replete with blackberries, savoury red fruits, floral mineral aspects and a dusting of toffee, chocolate and coffee. The palate is rich and smooth. Its dark fruit flavours preview a glossy, slippery texture that slides down effortlessly. Quintessential biodynamic fruit alive with flavours and textures. The biodynamically farmed grapes come off the 150-hectare Los Robles vineyard surrounded by oak trees or Coyam in the native dialect. The latest blend is a 38/17/21/21/2/1/mix of syrah, merlot, carmenère, cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and mourvèdre aged 13 months in 80 per cent French oak, 20 per cent American. a third new. Tannins are still smooth and the carmenere showing more now but still lots of life.Tasted: 28 October 2010Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $35.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
