Henty, Western Victoria, Victoria, AustraliaThe latest Yattarna has fruit from Tasmania 38, Adelaide 36 and Henty 26, mixed with 45 per cent new French oak. Yattarna is a fabulous addition to the Penfolds line up and globally is a bottle that should make white wine fans stand up and take notice. As close as it gets to Burgundy this marginal cool-climate chardonnay really over delivers. We love the oatmeal spicy nose, the creamy lees and distinct aromas of nectarines and limes and hazelnuts. Roasted nuts and intense white peach and quince cover the palate and finish long and complex. It barrel fermented and made oxidative yet it remains youthful and bright at three years.
