Tuscany, ItalyModus is a 50/25/25 super-Tuscan blend of sangiovese/merlot and cabernet sauvignon from the Ruffino estates of Montemasso, Poggio Casciano and Santedame. The aromas mix spice, leather and vanilla with bits of lead pencil and olives with fairly rich game fruit marked with mocha, coffee and black fruits. The finish is dry with some youthful tannins poking through and more gamey, olive, plum notes. Perfect for wild game dishes now or cellar through 2012.
