Le Bombarde Cannonau di Sardegna 1999
Sardinia, ItalyCannonau is the grape, Cantine di Santa Maria La Palma is the winery, the label is Le Bombarde and it comes from Sardegna. Ten years ago I wouldn't look twice at this wine but today, modern winemaking practices have paid off handsomely. Plums and spicy cherries mark the nose. The fruit is warm to the palate with an intriguing licorice/tea streak running through the finish. Another round, soft, easy-to-drink red that would pair well with grilled lamb chops.
