Road 13 Vineyards, the well-known Golden Mile Bench winery, joined the Anthony von Mandl owned BC Iconic Wineries group last year and is currently undergoing a complete transformation in the vineyards, at the winery and in the bottle.
We caught up with the newly arrived winemaker Barclay Robinson and founding family member Joe Luckhurst to talk about next directions.
Robinson boasts an unusual path to winemaking beginning his wine life as a certified professional sommelier in Calgary restaurants and hotels for a decade. From restaurants to Brock University, he completed his BSc (honours) in Oenology and Viticulture in 2009. He arrived in BC after spending the last seven years at the highly acclaimed Foreign Affairs Winery in Ontario's Niagara Peninsula. Robinson loves big reds and is excited to be working with some of the finest syrah vines in North America. Listen in as he talks about the next chapter at Road 13 and where he hopes to take the winemaking and wines in the near future.
