Road 13 Viognier 2018

Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis Blind Creek Vineyard viognier hails from the Similkameen Valley. An average year changed after the wildfires took over in 2018, making the growing season another challenging campaign, with smoke blocking off a lot of sunlight and slowing down ripening. The result was intense flavours at lower potential alcohol levels, and healthy natural acidity levels. The grapes were picked for richness, complexity, and aromatics, pressed whole bunch, and fermented in stainless steel to retain as much flavour a possible. The nose is a classic mix of apricots and nectarines, with floral, orange blossom. The mid-weight palate is fresh and lively, with similar flavours. Ready to drink, it is an excellent rich/rich match with prawns, crab, scallops, or peaches wrapped in prosciutto.Tasted: 13 June 2020Tasted by: Prices:
