British Columbia, CanadaSyrah and malbec (79/21) may not make for a classic blend, but when you think about it, the combination makes a lot of sense. Both varieties have a number of similarities and they can be easy to confuse in blind tastings, especially in the new world. However, in this case it’s really the oak driving the bus, with lots of espresso and raw wood character. Otherwise, the fruit is ripe and jammy, topping in at 14.7% abv. A wine for the ‘big red’ crowd, but at a price that doesn't deliver exceptional value.Tasted: 07 February 2020Tasted by: Prices:

British Columbia, CanadaAmple cracked black pepper opens and infiltrates this big, rustic syrah / malbec blend. Dried blueberries and purple florality showcase malbec's lift, while roasted meats, boysenberry and that peppery spice shout syrah. The varieties were destemmed and fermented separately in French oak before the final blend. Tannins are a bit stalky to a warming, sharp finish, all of which welcome partnering with grilled pork or beef burgers.Tasted: 04 August 2019Tasted by: Prices:
