Antinori Pèppoli Chianti Classico 2023
Tuscany, ItalyPèppoli is a single estate in Chianti Classico owned and farmed by Marchesi Antinori. It is primarily sangiovese and complemented by other indigenous grapes, each fermented and separately aged in stainless steel before ageing for nine months in large, older Slavonian oak barrels. As hot as 2023 was in Italy, one of the warmest years ever, Tuscany mainly emerged unscathed, in a richer style. Ripe fruit with a thread of chocolate, this wine will be a hit with many. The textures are luxurious, opening with noticeably softer, fleshy black cherry with dense, sweet tannins. Polished in a way most Classicos are not.
