Antinori Pèppoli Chianti Classico 2010
Tuscany, ItalyA well-managed somewhat 'iffy' vintage produced sangiovese (90%) and merlot picked between September 10th and 20th and syrah during the last ten days of September that still satisfies. The wines sees some nine months in oak in mostly larger Slavonian casks with 10% of the wine aged in smaller American oak barrels. The overwhelming notes are cherry with red florals, minerality and vanilla/chocolate notes. The finish is fairly long and silky smooth. A good result for 2010.
