Tantalus Old Vines Riesling 2022
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaTantalus' Old Vines Riesling, consistently one of Canada's top wines, comes entirely off 1978 plantings of clone 21B, predominantly sheltered by Ponderosa pines, and rooted in deep silty soils. This was handpicked, gently whole bunch pressed, settled and fermented cool for 45 days before resting a few months on lees, plus 2 years in bottle prior to release. As ever, such a wine of site, and time. Savoury, stony, and just off dry (7.1 g/L), this juicy white streaks across the palate, lit with lime pith and blossom, white grapefruit, tangerine peel, and green apple, seasoned amply with desert pine, crushed stones, and fine white pepper.
