Chester-Kidder Red Blend 2019

Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesWinemaker Gilles Nicault is a Washington State treasure. His exemplary work at Long Shadows and his mentorship under Rick Small at Woodward Canyon and Allen Shoup at Long Shadows, often regarded as the modern father of the Washington wine industry, has shaped him into a talented and thoughtful winemaker. The 2019 vintage showcases elegance and represents one of Washington's premier red wines. It features intense black fruit perfectly balanced with toasted oak. Composed of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Syrah, and a touch of Petit Verdot, this wine evokes some outstanding blends from Penfolds in Australia. While the palate is beautifully ripe, it still has dense, sweet tannins that require integration time. You can enjoy this wine now, paired with a rare steak, or you can exercise patience and wait for it to reach full maturity around 2026, when it will be ready to drink through 2036. Chester-Kidder is named in honour of Allen Shoup’s mother, Elizabeth Chester, and his grandmother, Maggie Kidder.Tasted: 21 November 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
