Chester-Kidder Red Blend 2006
Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesThe Long Shadows "home" winemaker is Gilles Nicault, well-trained for years by Rick Small at Woodward Canyon. When Nicault is not balancing the wants, needs and egos of the LS visiting winemakers, he is charged with making owner Allen Shoup's wine Chester Kidder. Look for a rich smoky savoury nose, reminiscent of Bolgheri, with spicy berry notes and bits of mocha beans. The mid-palate is classier, the tannins softer and the fruit flavours more exposed - a little Randy Dunn, a little Michel Rolland and a lot of black berry jam, cassis and vanilla. The fruit is sourced from major vineyard tour of Washington hot spots.Tasted: 30 November 2009Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $90.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Mark Anthony Brands |
