CheckMate Artisanal Winery Capture Chardonnay Border Vista Vineyard 2021

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAlways more serious, Capture opens with complex flinty and seawater notes and hints of grilled lemons. The palate mixes mild stone fruit and more mineral seaweed with a creamy finish. Capture has been on the upswing for the last couple of years, and 2021 is no exception. Border Vista Vineyard takes you as far south as possible in the Okanagan on the Osoyoos East Bench, just north of the US border. There is plenty of power here, but its sparse soil helps to restrain its overall structure, especially when combined with organic growing, contributing to a modest 13.5 ABV. It was made with 30+ year old Dijon clone 76 vines, half wild fermented in French oak (47% new) and aged 16 months. It's always a fine match for West Coast seafood.Tasted: 08 March 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
