Corcelettes Syrah 2021
Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe ’21 follows an outstanding ’20, awarded a coveted platinum medal at the National Wine Awards, and this one could be even better. Adding 5 percent viognier skins to the ferment adds a charm rarely seen in syrah as big as this. The aging is 90/10 in French and American oak barrels for 18 months. It is surprisingly friendly now, but it will age effortlessly into 2028. Like the Northern Rhone, the Syrah is grown on decaying Stemwinder soils, essentially stone, gravel, and windblown sand. Look for dusty pepper sagebrush notes among a perry meaty red that entices from front to back. This is impressive work here, although this fruit is under pressure from two cold winters. Buy it well, you can.Tasted: 04 November 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $34.90 | 750ml | winery online, BC Wineshop |
