Corcelettes Syrah 2019

Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe stony, dry, wild Similkameen is simply a treat to smell and sip. It's hard to explain how the rest of the world is chasing this style of wine with little hope of catching it, short of moving to the Similkameen. The fruit comes off the home estate set upon the Upper Bench of Keremeos. The soils are described as Stemwinder, essentially stone and gravel and sand that is windblown, like the Northern Rhone. The style is slightly drier than 2018 but less smoky with blueberry, black pepper dusted in local sage and deer brush. Tight, linear, and structured, it will live for a decade in a bottle and only improve. Serve now with lamb chops, but I like lamb shoulder and root vegetables as it ages.Tasted: 09 September 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
