Alamos Malbec 2020
Mendoza, ArgentinaThe Catena family is behind the Alamos brand, so it is no surprise Alamos has pulled up its socks in the last five years. The fruit is all high altitude, and the style is slightly more full bodied. A tiny amount of other red grapes are added to the mix that spends eight months in French and American oak post-ferment. Look for an earthy, spicy, juicy, black fruit palate with a tug of tannin and an earthy, savoury undercarriage. This wine enjoys some high scores from the usual suspects, but in the end, this is a mid-week red built for hamburgers and spaghetti and meatballs.Tasted: 09 March 2023Tasted by: Prices:BC | $17.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
