Alamos Malbec 1999
Mendoza, ArgentinaCatena's Alamos Malbec is made from a blend of fruit harvested off high altitude vineyards in Mendoza's Agrelo, La Consulta and Lunlunta districts. The 1999 was one of the first wines made at the new "high-tech" winery located at Agrelo, Mendoza. The colour is dark purple, almost black. The nose mixes plum and black cherry fruit (all oak ageing is done in older barrels to lessen the impact on the fruit aromas). The wine has a soft, elegant mouthfeel, with earthy, cassis, plum flavours and no shortage of alcohol in the ripe sweet finish. Drink now or cellar for 2 to 3 years.Tasted: 01 March 2002Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $17.45 | 750ml |
