Silvio Carta Serenata 2021

Sardinia, ItalySilvio Carta founded his eponymous company in Baratili San Pietro in the 1950’s, devoting himself to making traditional wines and spirits of the region. Sixty years on, Silvio, together with his son Elio, the latter at the head since 1973, still devote themselves to these aims. This cannonau (garnacha) comes from 12 year old vines, near the sea, rooted in calcareous soils. It was native fermented in stainless, where it remained for 8-10 months' rest. Perfumed purple and blue fruits are imbued with ample scrubby resinous herbs, scented with wild florals, and lined with worked leather. Tannins are sinewy but will absorbed into the fuller wine, guiding to a spiced finish. Tastes of the Mediterranean.Tasted: 28 February 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
