Silvio Carta Serenata 2017

Sardinia, ItalySilvio Carta founded his eponymous company in Baratili San Pietro in the 1950’s, devoting himself to making traditional wines and spirits of the region. Sixty years on, Silvio, together with his son Elio, the latter at the head since 1973, still devote themselves to these aims. This comes from 12 year old vines, near the sea, rooted in calcareous soils. It was native fermented in stainless, where it remained for 8-10 months' rest. Spicy, ripe, sun-kissed red fruits fill the dry, savoury palate of this cannonau. Overripe cherry, raspberry, leather, floods the full palate, with sticky, tuggy tannins reflective of the Sardinian sunshine, and a finish of Mediterranean scrub.Tasted: 18 September 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
