Clos du Soleil Célestiale 2020

Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCélestiale is the little sibling to Clos du Soleil's icon Signature red. Theoretically, you can enjoy this one now (signal screwcap) while waiting for Signature to mature. This year blends 56% merlot, 18% cabernet sauvignon, 12% cabernet franc, 12% malbec, and 2% petit verdot from various vineyards, Keremeos and Cawston. Each vineyard and variety was harvested separately, destemmed and fermented in concrete before aging in French oak for 15 months. Wild red and black fruit flood a juicy, compact palate, with a sweet spice of barrels, licks of mint and tobacco, and tight cedar-lined tannins holding all in. A big 14% red this year, this will settle with time in the bottle or a pairing with lamb now.Tasted: 15 February 2023Tasted by: Prices:
