Clos du Soleil Célestiale 2020

Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe nose is wildly floral and red-fruited, leading to a rush of juicy black and blue fruit, raspberry compote, and sweet wood spice. The palate is full-flavoured, but the tannins are muted by soft edges and streaked with cedar and residual cement notes. You can drink or hold this wine, but expect it to improve through 2026-27 in the bottle. Grilled beef or lamb would be my match for the moment. Célestiale is the Clos du Soleil red wine you can drink while waiting for Signature to mellow out. The 2020 Similkameen mix is 56/18/12/12/2 merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec, and petit verdot coming off various sites in Cawston and Keremeos. Winegrower Michael Clark works individually with each grape through the fermentation in concrete before aging this wine for 15 months in used French oak.Tasted: 28 January 2023Tasted by: Prices:
