Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis youthful and vibrant red blend (56% merlot, 18% cabernet sauvignon, 12% cabernet franc, 12% malbec, and 2% petit verdot) bursts with juicy plum, blueberry, and perfumed violets. Fresh herbal scents, a touch of graphite, and well-integrated oak spices add layers of complexity to the palate. The finish with a subtle spicy kick is a bonus. It is an unpretentious yet serious red, perfect for mid-week enjoyment.Tasted: 15 January 2024Tasted by: Prices:

Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe nose is wildly floral and red-fruited, leading to a rush of juicy black and blue fruit, raspberry compote, and sweet wood spice. The palate is full-flavoured, but the tannins are muted by soft edges and streaked with cedar and residual cement notes. You can drink or hold this wine, but expect it to improve through 2026-27 in the bottle. Grilled beef or lamb would be my match for the moment. Célestiale is the Clos du Soleil red wine you can drink while waiting for Signature to mellow out. The 2020 Similkameen mix is 56/18/12/12/2 merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec, and petit verdot coming off various sites in Cawston and Keremeos. Winegrower Michael Clark works individually with each grape through the fermentation in concrete before aging this wine for 15 months in used French oak.Tasted: 28 January 2023Tasted by: Prices:

Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCélestiale is the little sibling to Clos du Soleil's icon Signature red. Theoretically, you can enjoy this one now (signal screwcap) while waiting for Signature to mature. This year blends 56% merlot, 18% cabernet sauvignon, 12% cabernet franc, 12% malbec, and 2% petit verdot from various vineyards, Keremeos and Cawston. Each vineyard and variety was harvested separately, destemmed and fermented in concrete before aging in French oak for 15 months. Wild red and black fruit flood a juicy, compact palate, with a sweet spice of barrels, licks of mint and tobacco, and tight cedar-lined tannins holding all in. A big 14% red this year, this will settle with time in the bottle or a pairing with lamb now.Tasted: 15 February 2023Tasted by: Prices:
