Painted Rock Malbec 2020
Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Painted Rock Malbec has always been big, but this one tops the charts with a red-black colour and intensely smoky, earthy nose with a floral undercurrent. There is more intense black licorice, black plums, and smoked leather in the mix, and plenty of rich black fruit on the palate. Not a lot of finesse here this year, but as a rambunctious red, it is a wine that will have its followers. Depending on whether you like your reds young or old, drink or hold.
