Painted Rock Malbec 2018

Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Painted Rock Malbec (clone 589) covers one acre. It opens with an opaque purple colour and a sweet black fruit nose of blackberries, black cherries, and cassis with a light underlying floral component. The attack is juicy and full of ripe black fruit and soft tannins after 18 months in 30 percent new oak. A cooler year has brought a better balance to this wine, and with no volatility: two things that left 2017 a bit wanting. It's still a rambunctious effort but with some civilized edges. Cellar for 5-7 years before you begin to explore its future.Tasted: 03 October 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
