Painted Rock Malbec 2017
Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAnother blockbuster edition of this malbec, beginning with some volatility on the nose. The attack is warm and spicy, with rich black fruit and a whack of lingering tannin midpalate and beyond. Big, warm, and unruly, this is going to need five years in the bottle or a classic roasted leg of lamb complete with a mint sauce and roasted potatoes. More finesse would help to align this wine with the other offerings of Painted Rock. Given how impressive the 2017 Icon is, it would seem it got the very best of the malbec fruit.Tasted: 14 June 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $44.99 | 750ml | winery online/direct, winery club members |
