Painted Rock Cabernet Franc 2020

Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWinemaker Gabriel Reis and consulting winemaker Alain Sure described the vintage as “Fantastic due to the smaller berry size and meagre yields leading to ripe, well-balanced wines.” The fruit is hand-picked off a single three-acre block, berry-sorted and cold-soaked for four days. Then, after 21 days of fermentation on skins, it is finally transferred to 40% new French oak for 18 months and bottled unfiltered. Look for a complex nose of black raspberry that previews a silky palate flecked with tobacco, spicy oak, black licorice, and savoury desert scrub. The finish is long and intense with more dark chocolate, black plums, and dry baking spices. This is just a baby and nowhere near ready to drink, but it will be a wine to watch through 2030 and beyond.Tasted: 04 November 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
