Painted Rock Cabernet Franc 2017

Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA cool, wet spring led to smaller berries, and judging by this franc, berries with super intense flavour. It is a blockbuster ripe, robust red that is more New World this year and less Bordeaux. Everything is hand picked from a single, 1.25-hectare estate block, and berry sorted. Post ferment it is aged for 18 months in 40% new French oak and blended just before it is bottled unfiltered. On the palate is a tobacco laden black raspberry affair with desert scrub notes and spicy oak in the finish. Young and rambunctious, this will be best in five to seven years. Exceptional potential here.Tasted: 14 June 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
