Taylor Fladgate Late Bottled Vintage Port 2017

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalTaylor Fladgate were pioneers of the LBV category, a high-quality ready-to-drink alternative to Vintage Port for everyday consumption. Unlike Vintage Port, removed from wood and bottled at the two-year mark, LBV is bottled after four to six years in vats and is ready to drink when bottled. The blend pulls from a reserve of some of the best full-bodied red Ports produced at the 2017 harvest — many from grapes grown on Taylor Fladgate vineyards and other top properties in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior areas. It is reasonably developed, with rambunctious black pie fruit aromas and flavours intermixed with sweet spices. It is an upgrade in 2016 thanks to a long, rich finish full of dark chocolate, black raspberry jam and abundant flavours.
