Domaine Gavignet-Bêthanie et Filles Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Poulettes 2019

Nuits-Saint-Georges, Côtes de Nuits, Côte d'Or, Burgundy, FranceDomaine Gavignet-Béthanie et Filles was formed in the 1970s when third-generation winemaker Christian Gavignet (whose father Gaby was the winemaker at the Hospices des Nuits) married Michèle Béthanie, who had a family vine-holdings herself. Their daughters, Christine and Claire, have successfully run this sustainably farmed 9-hectare family enterprise since their first vintage in 2001. It comes off 60-year-old vines on a terraced, brown soiled, limestone studded vineyard near a cliff of white oolite and opposite some former quarries. It spent one year in oak before release. Bright wild raspberry, cherry, and strawberries fill the bright palate, lit with limestone shimmer, framed by firm, long tannins. Enjoy now or over the short term.Tasted: 13 May 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
