Domaine Gavignet-Béthanie et Filles Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Damodes 2019

Nuits-Saint-Georges, Côtes de Nuits, Côte d'Or, Burgundy, FranceDomaine Gavignet-Béthanie et Filles was formed in the 1970s when third generation wine-maker Christian Gavignet (whose father Gaby was the winemaker at the Hospices des Nuits) married Michèle Béthanie, who had family vine-holdings herself. Their daughters, Christine and Claire, have successfully run this sustainably farmed 9 hectare family enterprise since their first vintage in 2001. From brown, amply studded limestone soils, and 50 year old vines, this destemmed fruit fermented for 10-20 days, followed by a year in wood. Wild plum, dusky blackberry, cherry fill a savoury, structured palate, with long tannins well integrated into the fruit, and vibrant acidity to stream this long on the medium palate. Charming, and restrained, this is one to enjoy now or over the next few years, ideally with duck or fowl.Tasted: 13 May 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
