Closson Chase The Brock Chardonnay 2019
Prince Edward County, Ontario, CanadaClosson Chase is in Prince Edward County and has a charming winery to visit. The Brock Chardonnay comes off the K.J. Watson vineyard in the Niagara River sub-appellation. It's a 50/50 mix of stainless steel and older (neutral) oak-aged juice that walks the line between true northern Euro tightly wound chardonnay with a hint of New World style. The latter gives it some consumer appeal and a place among restaurant wines. There is plenty of citrus here, toast, pears and lime rind in the back end. Although the colour is darker than you might expect, the result is lean and tight.
