Closson Chase The Brock Chardonnay 2018
Prince Edward County, Ontario, CanadaThe Brock label was developed for restaurants, explaining why half goes into old wood for a year while the remainder is kept in stainless steel. The attack is round with buttery undertones (50% through malolactic fermentation), but in the warm 2018, it has left the wine a touch soft. This Niagara chardonnay remains lively enough to carry its creamy texture, and frankly, it is very drinkable. It has that curb appeal that chardonnay drinkers love, and it's easy to approach under a screwcap.
