Antiyal Kuyen 2018

Valle del Maipo, Region del Valle Central, ChileIn 1996, winemaker Alvaro Espinoza and his family planted two acres of vines around their home in Maipo. In 2003, they planted their El Escorial estate in the rocky volcanic / basaltic soils of the Andean foothills with over 25 acres organic / biodynamic vines at 500m. Pura Fe means Pure Faith. Kuyen 2018 is a blend of syrah, cabernet sauvignon, carmenere, and petit verdot, from vines 16 years old. This was native fermented in large stainless tanks over 1 month, before 1 year in French barrels (20% new). Very pure and polished, with layers of wild black cherry, blackberry, tobacco, and cracked pepper. Acidity is bright, and tannins are firm and structural, but well integrated into the dense fruit. A statement wine that drinks well now and with years ahead.Tasted: 13 January 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
