Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCedarCreek winemaker Taylor Whelan is carving out his path, and the Block 3 Platinum Riesling is a good example of his innovation. Grown at the Home Block Vineyard above the East Kelowna winery, it is all own-rooted on 20-plus-year-old vines that are now certified organic. Two thousand nineteen throws rich, intense, lime-scented, nectarine fruit flecked with a steely, stony back end to deliver a complex white wine that will live for years. Whelan ferments the hand-selected bunches using organic yeasts, which feed the wine as it ages in 75/35 stainless steel /French oak barriques. Drink or hold; there is no rush.
