Taboadella 1255 Alfrocheiro Reserva 2018

Dão, Northern Portugal, PortugalTaboadella is an exciting new Dão project from the Amorim family (of cork domination). The family is no stranger to winemaking, however, owing Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo in the Douro, as well as the large Aldea de Cima estate in the Alentejo, where they have been planting vines over the past few years.. From Dão's granitic soils, and 450m altitude, this alfrocheiro was entirely destemmed before fermentation and aging for 7 months in a split of stainless and new French oak barrels. Full and doughy, with wild blackberry, perfumed dark plum, herbal scrub framed by grippy, fine tannins. Acidity is brisk, carrying this easily to a lengthy finish. Feels lighter on its feet than its 14%. 8400 bottles produced.Tasted: 16 December 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
