Taboadella 1255 Grande Villae White 2018

Dão, Northern Portugal, PortugalTaboadella is an exciting new Dão project from the Amorim family (of cork domination). The family is no stranger to winemaking, however, owing Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo in the Douro, as well as the large Aldea de Cima estate in the Alentejo, where they have been planting vines over the past few years. From Dão's granitic soils and Tabodella's elevated vineyards (500m), this is a blend of old vine encruzado and bical. This was aged for one year in new 500L French oak barrels. The wood is upfront and present, creating this powerful, forward, full-bodied white. Toasted wood brackets lemon, lemon curd, baked green apple, white florals, pear, finishing with a warming flush. A bit too much of too much at this youthful state, but should age admirably.Tasted: 16 December 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
