River Stone Cabernet Franc 2018
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom estate vines now 16 years old, this cab franc was destemmed and partially crushed prior to ferment, and aging 14 months in French oak (1/3 new). The wood is felt in this compact, dense, savoury franc, thankfully kept to 13.1%. Even then, the southern Okanagan sunshine shows in the ripe cherry, cassis, blackberry jam palate. Tannins are firm and a bit blocky at this young age, finishing with some brown spices.
