Nichol Vineyard Old Vines Syrah 2018
Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is the oldest syrah in Canada, planted in 1990/91 on granite bedrock at the end of the Naramata Bench. It remains one of my favourite wines to taste and track, with every year a different record of season. Elegant and finessed as ever, with rivers of black cherry, black plum, wild raspberry, black pepper, and dried violets, seasoned with scrubby Okanagan desert herbs. This savoury, understated, and confident red lingers with mineral salts. Canadian classic, drinking beautifully now, but will continue to age gracefully.Tasted: 27 August 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $40.00 | 750ml | winery direct, private wine shops |
