Nichol Vineyard Old Vines Syrah 2017

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is the oldest syrah in Canada, planted in 1990/91 on granite bedrock at the end of the Naramata Bench. It remains one of my favourite wines to taste and track, with every year a different record of season. This year leads with strikingly perfumed black pepper, dried violets, wild plum, wilder cassis, and thorns, before a savoury palate layered with fennel, pine herbaceousness, and sweet charcuterie, studded with lingering mineral salts. All of that is carried with a natural freshness.Tasted: 22 February 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
