Joseph Mellot Le Tronsec Pouilly-Fume 2018

Pouilly-Fume, Upper Loire, Loire, FranceThe Mellot Pouilly Fume plot totals 9.5 hectares, some planted to Kimmeridgian limestone marls, and some in the village of Saint Laurent l'Abbaye planted on stones over clay. Pouilly refers to the town of Pouilly-sur-Loire, while Fumé is the local moniker for the sauvignon blanc grape. Simple winemaking: crushed, pressed and settled at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks. The colour is pale; the nose is all about minerality with light florals and just a touch of pepper. A firm, stylish white capable of taking on most foods up to a full-blown roast chicken. It is the wine they can't make in New Zealand.Tasted: 17 July 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
