Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe malbec is grown specifically for this wine, on a steep southern-facing slope of Clos du Soleil’s La Côte Vineyard on the Upper Bench of the Similkameen Valley. The nose is delicate and aromatic, with notes of red cherries and pomegranate. The attack is lively with juicy raspberry, cherries, and rhubarb, streaked with a bit of salty, mineral, orange zest. The fruit is destemmed, lightly crushed, and soaked under dry ice for 6 hours followed by gentle pressing, and a long, slow, cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine was aged on lees until bottling. Almost any food works here, including salmon, chicken, soft cheeses, cheesy popcorn, or a sunny patio. Well done.Tasted: 09 May 2020Tasted by: Prices:
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis medium peach-hued rosé is entirely malbec, from Keremeos' La Côte Vineyard. After destemming and chilling under dry ice, this fermented slow and cool in stainless, where it remained on lees until a light filtration and bottling. Look for a punchy raspberry, cherry, rhubarb, tangerine to flood a big, juicy palate, housed with grippy spices, to a snappy, salted finish.Tasted: 11 May 2020Tasted by: Prices:
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis 100 percent malbec rosé is sourced from La Côte Vineyard in Keremeos, with six hours of skin contact under dry ice before being gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel. The result is absolutely delicious, with the 2019 vintage taking this wine to another level. The fruit is vibrant and lean - to the wine’s benefit - with tart strawberry, rhubarb, and a flinty note from ageing on fine lees before bottling. And, of course, there’s the Similkameen’s unique saline quality. In fact, this could be one of the more overtly mineral rosés I’ve had in recent memory. It’s a serious style, not just from its bone dry finish or precise fruit definition, but also the noticeable concentration. It’s the complete package: food-friendly, contemplative, and moreish. Highly recommended and remarkable value.Tasted: 07 May 2020Tasted by: Prices:
