Tantalus Riesling 2019
East Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis, their flagship riesling, comes from estate fruit dating back to the late 1970s. After whole bunch pressing, each parcel fermented separately in stainless on gross lees before the final blend. The sweetness / acidity balance is much closer this year than in past years, with 10 g/L RS deftly balanced out by near the same (9.7 g/L TA). Green apple, lime pith and peel, mandarin, white peach is held taught and quivering around a slender (11.9 degrees), but juicy, palate. This has a more serious, grownup tone this year, but still with the smashability of the past.
