Altesino Rosso Toscana 2016

Tuscany, ItalyAltesino has always been a pioneering winery in Tuscany. They were first to introduce the Cru concept with their Montosoli in 1975, the first to experiment with barriques in 1979, and the first to release Brunello futures in 1985. You can think of this Rosso as a "baby Brunello", with all the same parentage, but ready to drink much younger. Rosso di Altesino is primarily sangiovese, with a 20% tip of merlot and cabernet sauvignon. Estate fruit, mostly from the Montalcino vineyards, is fermented and briefly aged in steel, to preserve freshness. Welcoming and instantly friendly, this comes with tidal waves of cherry, dried florals, dried thyme, leather, salts, dried thyme. Showing hints of maturity, at a great price.Tasted: 27 September 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
