Sequel Syrah 2015
Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesAfter his time at Penfolds, making Australian icon red Grange, winemaker John Duval chose the Columbia Valley and Long Shadows for his “Sequel” and his continuation of a life-long association with shiraz. Duval, an expert and effortless blender of widespread fruit, works with several sites to make this complex, rich, meaty, powerful syrah. In 2015 the grape mix is 93/7 syrah/cabernet sauvignon from noted sites in the Yakima Valley and the Columbia Valley. Look for a smoky, savoury nose with bits of dark chocolate threaded through deep blueberry and blackberry fruit. It spends 18 months in 65 percent new French oak that calls for another decade in the bottle. If you can wait to drink this and I know you can’t serve this with a well-seasoned leg of lamb.Tasted: 03 November 2018Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:US | $60.00 | 750ml | US |
