Sequel Syrah 2003
Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesThis Long Shadows project involves former Stimson Lane head Allan Shoup and former Penfolds (Grange) chief winemaker John Duval. Duval has crafted a huge peppery, spicy, vanilla, meaty, floral syrah with licorice root and warm barnyard aromas. As ripe, round and smooth as this red is, the tannins are supple, light and round. On the palate, Sequel offers black cherry jam and smoky, peppery, vanilla flavours with rootsy, meaty, clove and chocolate, roasted pepper flavours. Very smoky, warm vanilla finish. Although its warm and alcoholic it possesses fine finesse and balance with supple tannins. Will improve over the next 2-4 years. A bit more fruit poking through the oak would be the optimum out come.Tasted: 15 April 2006Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $84.99 | 750ml | speculative listing - Mark Anthony Brands |
