Quails' Gate Old Vines Foch Reserve 2016

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCertainly a unique wine for BC, this old vine (50+ yo vines) marechal foch comes from Quails' Gate home estate vineyard, was fermented with selected French yeasts and matured in new American oak. The spicy power of the wood plays well against the resinous / raisiny prune character of the grapes and this wine. Dark chocolate, baked plums, stewed forest berries are cut with a sharp green tomato note, leaving this intense wine somewhat disjointed on the finish. Tannins are slight and sticky. As usual, makes for a great beef / root veg stew accompaniment.Tasted: 22 January 2020Tasted by: Prices:
