Quails' Gate Old Vines Foch Reserve 2011

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Reserve Foch opens with a whack of vanilla that tempers its meaty, espresso, charred, resiny nose. The wine is ripe and rounder than the regular version with big wild, smoked meat notes flecked with roasted peppers, saddle leather and compost notes. The finish is a mix of sweet Bourbon, sour fruit, spice, and charred oak and roasted tomato. Big powerful, wild and not for the feint hearted.Tasted: 20 December 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
