Piedmont, ItalyWe love how the newer Barolo vintages are so much cleaner and appealing on the nose and the palate – it is a long way from the old, earthy, barnyard, leathery wines that ruled the day in Barolo from the 70s through the 90s and beyond. Look for a light-ish colour, an elegant mix of freshness, cranberries, cherries and violets with resiny, savoury, tar notes before its long, lean, fine-grained tannins kick into the finish.
