Torres Celeste Crianza 2013

Ribera del Duero, Castilla-Leon, SpainThis tempranillo, from high altitude vineyards in Ribera Del Duero, takes its name from the celestial heavens, seemingly within reach from the 895m high vineyard. From this site, far away from lights and habituation, Torres Jr has said “you can almost touch the stars.” The memorable label is a depiction of the constellations seen if you look straight up when you’re standing in said vineyard. This wine benefits from some time in bottle; the potent tempranillo (French and American oak aged, some new) is just now starting to fade a wee bit, revealing espresso-lined black fruit, black cherry jam, and dried dark florals on the bitter edged finish. Tannins feel hard pressed through to the flush of heat on the finish, and would benefit from hearty blood sausage or lamb leg to mitigate.Tasted: 29 November 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
